How to answer ''Tell us about yourself question''?

I think at least some of your answer to this question will be inevitably boring as you want to tell them about your education/current stage. The rest doesn't have to be though. I suggest going through your background/extra-curriculars/jobs and thinking about what you're proud of/what you...

How to approach this aspect of a 'why us question' - Career ambitions

I'd interpret it as covering both. It should be OK to say you want to make partner (although on its own that would be boring/general).

    BCLP - listing your achievements, positions of responsibilities etc;

Hmm, this question isn't very clear -- you could easily interpret it both ways. I would lean towards the first largely because it would be strange for them to ask you to list in bullet points if they wanted the latter. If it's a particularly impressive experience, I'm sure you could get away...

What do you want to ask a Baker McKenzie trainee?

I will ask as many of these as I can!

How to approach this aspect of a 'why us question' - Career ambitions

It's good you've spotted that a different approach is needed to this question -- it's often missed or muddled up. I suggest you treat it as two questions. Answer "why Macfarlanes?" as normal and then discuss your career ambitions in a separate paragraph as a different question. You don't need...

What do you want to ask a Baker McKenzie trainee?

Hi All, On Thursday I'll be recording a second interview with Lewis Malkin, a trainee at Baker McKenzie. The last time we spoke, Lewis was yet to begin his training contract, and so in this interview we'll be talking about what life at a law firm is like, how he adjusted as a trainee, how he...

    Extra-Curriculars

Yes, definitely! If you have a few experiences over the last year or so, that's plenty. No need to look for additional extra-curricular activities (unless you particularly want to).

    Strange application questions...

I imagine the question is asking what skills you need for the beginning of your training contract (so you hit the ground running) rather than literally for "day one". Try to think about the things you'll have to do as a trainee. e.g. draft emails to clients, complete tasks for multiple people...

    Vacation Scheme Application Advice

Some quick advice for your vacation scheme applications: Spend just as much time on the quality of your writing as you do on the content of your application. The more applications I review, the clearer it becomes that good writing makes a good application. It says a lot about you, your...

    Rolling Basis Recruitment Realities

I mean if you've done the applications then you may as well submit them now, unless you think you're likely to improve them between now and the deadline. But yes, no added benefit to submitted early, other than getting that application out the way.

    Best law fair freebies?

It's usually on a table by their stand. Doesn't look too great if they see you take the stuff without talking to the firm/waiting there for a bit although no one will stop you.

    Strange application questions...

Some thoughts: 2. It may help to lead with your strengths so it gives some structure to your answer. I'd also focus on small victories. 3. I personally hate questions like this. I'd pick an event I knew something about as there may be follow up questions. 4. This is a good one I haven't heard...
