This is tricky with the apprenticeships.
You won’t be eligible for the apprenticeships if you have studies/completed the SQE (even if this is just SQE1). For the firm to get the funding, you can’t have a qualification of the same subject/level.
Some firms are taking people on as trainees...
You may find that some application forms don’t allow you to put future dates in for employment (some do though.)
If you can put it in, the description should be no more than a sentence or two as you can’t claim the work you will be doing just by the job description.
I think you still need to show that you have been proactive is developing your skill set. Firms cannot quantify how the circumstances would have impacted your performance.
But given you were close to getting an offer, I would be expecting firms to encouraging you to reapply.
If you feel you have worked on developing the areas you were given feedback on (assuming they are areas you can work on) then you shouldn’t be put off from reapplying. But firms will want to see you have been proactive is developing the areas they gave you constructive feedback on.
They can be really helpful for some candidates, for instance if you have less legal work experience or no previous connection/interaction with the firm.
If you impress on an open day, the firm will be waiting for your later application. It’s not going to mean your application cannot meet the...
I think you have to identify the area for biggest growth across a sector group, so if your answer is going to focus on one aspect of their work, it will need to have quite a significant chance for growth (eg new market, new products, new regulation etc).
Absolutely nothing holding you back from applying. You will need to disclose why you changed courses, but given the strength of your grades for both courses I don’t think this is going to be an issue.
Please feel free to PM me if you want to discuss any wording on how to explain this in...
no need to use the maximum word/character count. Utilise what you think is appropriate for the role (eg how long it was, how varied/complex your responsibilities were). Some entries may use the full limit, while others may use less than half of it.
I’d suggest we discuss this in a private message. Please feel free to send me a PM to discuss.
The difficulty is not your mitigating circumstances, and you don’t need to sugar coat them. The challenge you have is you only have 1 year of academic grades that have not been impacted by some form...
I really don’t think there is an answer to this unfortunately.
Some people can spend a couple of hours on an application, while others may need to spend much more time researching and then writing. Some people find some questions very easy to write, and others more difficult.
Focus more so...
Include it in the postgraduate section where it is an LLM. You can explain the module grades you have received but say your overall grade is pending/TBC. Firms will be aware that grades might come later in the year.
If you can, I’d try to apply to a slightly higher number of firms, unless you have a very precise set of requirements for future employers which means there are only 5 firms you are interested in.
However, it’s common for some people to focus on direct TC applications for similar reasons to...
I wonder if it’s because people are qualifying via other means, such as paralegals, solicitor apprenticeships or through foreign qualified lawyer programmes.
I’d keep in person internships separate. Rather than the responsibilities being the same, maybe focus on the differences in each experiences rather than repeating the same type of details. You are likely to have worked in different practice areas or with different types of clients or different...
It happens enough for you to at least be able to ask for it. I don't see any problem with asking, as the worst that could happen is they say no. This wouldn't put you in a different position than you being unable to commit to the original scheme.
I think there are so many variables at play as...
The focus on finance/investment work experience I think will be more of the challenge than your grades. You are going to have to really convince people on the "why law" aspect of your applications.
There will be some firms who really stress about the need for academic excellence who may be a...
Reverse chronological - your most recent experience should be the first in the section and then all other entries in that section should be listed in reverse chronological order so your oldest example is last.
You can include open days. However, sometimes there are other sections in the...
