    Employment contracts/offers can be retracted but this is exceptionally rare and something law firms don’t do just for the sake of it due to the PR risks associated with doing so. They’d be in breach of contract but the difficulty is in the pursuing them for costs associated with that.

    I'd take it as a good thing - for some reason they are going out of their way to help you. What the reason for why they are doing that could be varied - but they clearly want to help and the feedback is likely to be useful.

    No - it would only be jeopardised if they said no, and then you took the time off anyway. If they say you can take the time off, just make the time up across the rest of the week (just do an extra 2 hours each day) to make sure you can perform to the same level as you would over the week.

    I think an hour is a reasonable commute - many vac schemers will do longer commutes than that. As long as trains run late for any evening social events, an hour will be fine.
