    I would focus on "why me". You can always separate the "why x firm" into why the opportunity at x firm in the application question and then put more of the cultural/working environment aspects of the firm into the cover letter.

    Congratulations!! Reading University have summer accommodation which is about £40 per night or around £430 for a two week stay. It will just depend on how early your vacation scheme is, as if it’s still when students are in term time, it might be difficult to find availability.

    Yes, it’s better to be honest about these things. Firms are used to their vacation scheme students doing multiple schemes. The only thing is they may ask why you can’t miss the equivalent week of the programme with the other firm rather than missing theirs.

    I don’t think you have to mention it unless it naturally comes up in conversation. It may come up through questioning in an interview or graduate recruitment/HR may ask what your availability for the summer is if they are running multiple vacation scheme dates.

    Because they want to know if there is a risk that they lose you to another firm. It is not likely to be a negative - it may mean that the VS firm just understands you have a competitor offer and they may need to adjust their process/timescales to accommodate that should they want to offer you a TC.
