It’s really about emphasising why you want to work (and live) in the area, focusing on what that region can give you that others can’t, and showing you are not someone who has strong ties to other areas.
It is still tricky though to convince people.
There is always just a risk HR have to take...
I must stress how important an influence this is in the regional firms’ recruitment process.
For decades they have had people apply to their regional opportunities to either CV build or in the hope they can transfer to a London opportunity at some point (whether that’s during the recruitment...
Was this a qualification though (rather than a certificate)? If a formal qualification (eg it has a recognised level of study) then include it in your education section. If it is more like a training course, then put it elsewhere in your application.
They could but I don’t think they really have the time to be able to do this. At best I think they’d check you completed the programme, but I can’t see them going beyond this due to the time needed to review.
Firms will not care which prep course you have done. They will only care about whether you have passed/failed the SQE. I don’t think there is any advantage or disadvantage when it comes to potential employers’ perceptions for any courses.
If this was the case, they would have to inform you in the instructions that the test is assessed by time but there is an unlimited amount of time to complete it. I suspect other considerations happen in this situation though.
It is possibly this but also you can be negatively scored for how wrong your answer is.
Typically with psychometric tests there are 3-4 potential answers for each question.
There will be the correct answer (obviously) but then their might be an answer that you could get to if you missed a...
The only difference between the routes is that as a graduate apprentice you work alongside completing your SQE studies. It is technically a shorter period to qualify compared to a year of studying and then two years as a trainee. As you are working from the outset and the graduate solicitor...
I would very much expect this to be too long. It’s not really about what you would like to include, it’s more about what are the few key messages you should include.
I suspect you are trying to include too much to show the variety of your experiences and motivations, but you will need to be...
It is “equivalent” to a vacation scheme but will need to be supplemented by evidence of you pursuing a career as a solicitor over a barrister, and will need a strong “why commercial solicitor” answer too.
Welcome to the forums! I would apply to a mixture of vacation schemes and direct TCs. Some vacation schemes will make sense for the firms who recruit trainees solely or heavily from vacation schemes, but direct TCs will make sense for firms where this ain’t the case and where you may not be...
Just to add to this @Cynthia14 it doesn’t need to be academic prizes either. It can be “employee of the month” awards or other things you have gained from work experience, hobbies, interests etc
Just own the statement of what you expect to earn rather than focusing on what you have earned in the past. There is no issue in doing this and it’s much more appropriate than lying about what you have earned in the past and then this potentially coming up at a later stage and jeopardising your...
