Willkie’s new graduate recruiter and two trainees will break down what the firm looks for at the interview stage, common pitfalls to avoid,
and how you can demonstrate confidence, clarity, and genuine motivation throughout an assessment centre.
No need to follow up - firms don't necessarily send acknowledgements for things like this.
I am sure they will be in contact if they need anything else from you.
Could really vary from firm to firm.
There is no harm in emailing them and asking when you will hear back with confirmed dates though and explain you are just trying to work out when you will hear back so you can plan time off from work.
I'd personally wait more than two weeks, unless the scheme is very soon.
Instead, I might email them and just ask when they expect to have a confirmation either way of their vac scheme numbers being increased or not so you can manage your expectations around when you will hear back.
It isn't about being in an elected position. You can contribute to societies in many other ways, and they will be positions of responsibility too.
But the CAB volunteering could be put under extracurricular (or work experience - it is one of those grey areas)
Part-time work will never hurt your application.
Part-time work can be a substitute for extracurricular activities. But if you are only doing the part-time job to better your application, why not just seek more ways of getting involved in extra curricular instead?
The activities don't need to...
So my personal view with the BCLP question is to be more selective. Think about who the most important relationships are to build especially in your first three months and that will be important in the long term.
I think many people miss the “in your first three months” part of the question.
I’d try to include them elsewhere where you can. It’s only if they can’t be referenced elsewhere that you could include them (although many application systems don’t allow you to add future dates anyway).
If you do add them, you can’t really provide any detail beyond the department you are...
To follow up on what @AvniD has said, it can depend on the following factors:
- if the firm will now have multiple offices in that same city/location - if not, then the hiring numbers may not change as they may still need trainees for that location
- whether the other firm has recruited or not...
I'd give them a call if you can rather than email.
They will need something in writing too to confirm you are withdrawing from the process, but I think a call is just a polite approach to take.
I really wouldn't worry about it though - this happens to them all the time, they are used to it...
There might not be any time limit.
However, at the same time it might not even apply to TCs.
Basically, I wouldn't worry about it - let the agency/firm battle that one out. If it stops the recruiter putting you forward, you could always apply directly instead.
Questions like this are perfectly fine for the forums, so please do not worry.
700+ words is actually quite long for one answer, so clearly they are looking for detail in this. Given that, structure and flow of an answer will be important.
Usually there are multiple ways a firm could get...
Statement bracelets and necklaces tend to be fine - you'll see them a lot around the offices (I find anyway!).
Good way to brighten up a dull outfit/add some personality to otherwise conservative clothing.
