It is a tricky situation as by the time this person accumulated more PQE experience ahead of starting TCs currently being hired for (eg another 2-3 years experience) they are likely to be considered over qualified. Especially with the SQE too, they won’t need a training contract either.
Possibly, but it is not always the case.
With many people who are unsuccessful in converting to TCs, it will be because either the firm doesn't think they are right for the firm or they haven't met the necessary standards. Many firms will also just offer more people via the direct training...
Really depends with the firm and the ratio of their VS to TC places. Also depends how thorough the VS recruitment process has been - some firms do quite a light touch process while others mirror the entire TC recruitment process.
My offer rates were usually somewhere between 65-85% but that was...
It really won’t work like that, so I wouldn’t worry which one you choose. They will purposely hold out offers for the summer too. Your chances will be the same for both schemes and based on your performance rather than when you did it.
People cancel. It happens a reasonable amount of the time, but most usually because they have secured other work or have decided the career isn’t for them. I’d say about 10-15% of invites are not taken up for one reason for another.
You could potentially ask the firm to defer your interview to...
You can state a preference for the date that doesn’t clash but insinuate you’d be happy with either.
Not going back when they have asked you to confirm ASAP is likely to be more risky than stating a preference. You’ll also be more likely to get your preference the earlier you request it.
Typically there will be a range of ACs they will aim to complete. How big that range is usually depends on how they are finding the recruitment process and how big their intake is.
As I understand it, you are still eligible for student finance. They do not factor in other forms of income into the decision, you just have to be eligible for the loan which is typically based on nationality/country of residence, the course you are studying and whether you have had a PG loan...
SJTs can often work on a negative scoring basis. For instance you’ll get 1 positive mark for the best answer, 0 points for a not the best answer(s) and -1 point for the worst answer.
What can often happen is that people choose the “wrong” answer for questions which, then cancel out any right...
I'd be surprised if you were asked the legal technicalities. I suspect it will be more "common sense" analysis needed - e.g what does a lawyer have to consider when their client is going through a merger (remember that mergers and acquisitions are two different processes and therefore will have...
It will really depend on the firm. They won't have offices everywhere and can open multiple offices in a region/country/jurisdiction.
Break it down by:
Consider their practice areas and key client sectors
Are there locations their clients are basing themselves in either by HQs or large...
I lived in H&M blazers when I worked in law firms. Generally found they lasted pretty well too and there were so more casual fits which still looked smart but weren’t overly structured like a suit (which I wanted)
