You can’t work full time and study full time. At best one of them will need to be part time and even then it will be tough going. Most people top up the GDL to an LLM and then apply for PG funding.

University societies are not employment so wouldn’t be checked. Anything that is employment will be though (and as throughly as can be).
Employment references are dates employed, job title and that you weren’t found to have committed anything related to misconduct.
You can’t pay for your own skilled worker visa. It has to be paid for by the employer.
You could apply for your post-graduate visa that would give you two years to work in the U.K. though. It won’t necessarily help for a TC, but would help for VS applications, which then may convert to a TC...

No - you are on hold. You could be invited if they have enough candidates withdraw from the recruitment process. That is a possibility but at the same time might not happen either.
No - shouldn’t be an issue at all. You could choose to do it in either intake if you really wanted to, although with the SQE, you may not want to have too much of a gap between the GDL and your SQE prep course.
