I think everyone considers salaries. But for many, if the difference is £40k, they are most likely to be in the top 1% of earners anyway at that stage and on a considerable wage. For some people, the importance of money probably tapers off a little once it hits a mark that they know they could...
You are likely to going to need to let your firm know anyway.
1) your employment contract may state you can’t be employed by someone else without disclosing it and getting it approved
2) both firms will likely need to do conflict checks even if you can go ahead with the vacation scheme

Call today’s firm as soon as possible to explain the situation. They will understand and if they can offer you another date they will. It will only be if they are filling booked up for other dates that they may not be able to offer you an alternative.
Once you have spoken to today’s firm call...
I really don’t think it’s as binary as either/or. You could use a range of different methods to present your thinking too.
Depending on the instructions, this type of analysis might not be needed at all.
If they are used, it won’t be considered too simplistic, just because you learnt it at...
I'll be much more helpful on the first point but will try to give you some reassurances on the second point too.
How vacation schemes are typically assessed: could be a mixture of any/all of the following
Your work for your supervisor/team
How you interact with your colleagues
Your interest...
This week's winner is @Abii !
@Abii has been great over the last week at not only explaining their personal journey (here) but has also provided some great advice for tricky interview questions (here) and contributed to our Starred thread initiative too.
Thank you for all your contribution...
Back to back NRF offer posts, that's what we like to see!
All the love heart manifestations paid off (although I'd actually say it's both of your hard work that's created your success really!)
I'd probably contact them before the AC in all honesty to see if they have any flexibility. I think they would appreciate this more than being told afterwards.
Definitely won't be the case for other firms. Many firms will want to see some work experience and probably 4 weeks or so, but it doesn't necessarily need to be legal.
Oh good question - it's strange, but I have gone right back to handshaking but I think it's where I have 18+ years of doing so it has been hard for me to not do it.
I don't think there is any harm in either 1) waiting for the other person to take the lead, 2) asking what the etiquette is these...
Now I might have too high an expectation here, but I would expect a law firm to ask a slightly different question at an interview stage.
It might be that both questions are about teamwork, but for instance, they might just have a slightly different angle - one could ask you to focus on...
From everything I have heard, a great firm to aim for if you are looking to work regionally. Excellent training too from what I have heard.
Been performing particularly well and has grown a good amount in recent years - I think they upped their trainee intake to reflect that a few years ago...
In all honesty, it might not be an outcome at all. It could be the case that they need more information from you or just want to provide you with a more general update on where they are up to.
The fact they want you to call them though says that they want to hear from you, so I would give them...
Could be anything from a few days through to mid-September. You really should be given 4 weeks though as a minimum (that is best practice)
How much time you are given typically depends on what stage of your academics you are in. The mid-September rule is really for those who are still at...
I appreciate the opportunity to talk about these things too. I wish there were ways to make representation much clearer without forcing it, the benefits for everyone would be immense.
