TCLA Direct Training Contract Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

Hi, would people recommend sending a thank-you letter to a partner and associate after a first-round interview with them? I don't have their emails so I thought about emailing grad rec and asking them to forward it on, but wanted to see if that was common practice or not first...
In case it's still useful to know, the usual practice in the UK is not to send a thank you email.

This is not to say you can't do it. If it does feel right to you, you can send a succinct email to say thank you. Just know that it won't influence the outcome either way, and you should keep it short and to the point.

If you don't have their email, I suggest you don't email graduate recruitment to ask for their email though. They will be mindful that these lawyers are busy.

I have a spring VS and want to update my already submitted apps to include this in the work experience section. Email firms' Grad rec (e.g. HL/mayer brown) saying I wish to add to my application with a brief work summary, or just leave it?
Probably just leave it, most firms don’t put much weighting onto the work experience section anyways. I’d recommend just trying your best to convert the vs so hopefully you won’t even need the dtc apps.
