I’d stress the “you” is the most important part of this question, and so they are very much interested in finding out about something that genuinely interests you alongside how you draft and write about something.
This also completely misses advisory lawyers! So many lawyers are no transactional or disputes aligned!
I don’t think you need to categorise lawyers for this answer though. Think more about what are the common themes across these different categories.’.
My advice for the question Jaysen has referenced above is “what is a lawyer’s purpose” and you might get to the crux of what the question is asking of you.
This is just asking you about adjustments you require to the recruitment process. I would not include mitigating circumstances here - I would include them in the extra info section.
Hi there - have you thought about joining our Junior Laywers Community? You will find forums specifically for those who have secured, started or completed their training contract.
You can find the details of the forum here and complete a short form to provide evidence you are eligible to join...
There is no need to explicitly connect this to the firm. Do think about what the firm may value though and therefore what types of qualities you may want to focus your answer on.
When you say two defaults, were these recovered through a debt collection system or did you just receive financial charges/fines that you then had to pay off on top of the debt (but you managed that directly with the suppliers rather than a debt collection agency)?
I wouldn’t - I would always go with formal versions of words.
This thread might help you cut other words from your writing though - https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/threads/how-to-get-your-applications-within-their-word-limits.3701/
I would encourage your friend to contact them again and see if they can do the feedback at some time over the next couple of weeks and get your friend to explain their availability for that period.
This just isn’t true.
There are not these forms of blacklisting as people like to suggest there is. The firm’s representative would just be happy to get some time back and move on to the next candidate/job/piece of work and not think much else about it.
That is still nearly four weeks away - most people won't apply until the last week (and actually the last couple of days), so I would apply to the programme that works best for you timings wise with your commitments.
I think it depends on the firm and how heavily they recruit from VS. There will be some firms you probably still want to apply for VS where they recruit exclusively or pretty much exclusively from VS, but with other firms it may make sense just to apply for direct TCs
I would still have an academic section in your CV, but you can afford to potentially have less detail in it - their video makes clear they expect the academics to be part of the CV: https://media.slaughterandmay.com/view/7JyJnElHKu0xOqkp5sqc3J
750-850 words tends to be the typical word count we see. We see some that are shorter (around 500-600 words) and some that are successful that are close to 1000 words.
