It’s not just necessarily knowing about a trainee’s role generally, it’s also about applying it to the firm you are interviewing with - what responsibilities they give trainees can vary, whether that because of the practice areas they work in or because of the firm’s method of delegating work...
I don’t think work experience will be the reason here.
It’s probably more related to the answers around your career motivations, what you will enjoy, how you will utilise your strengths etc if related to the role of a trainee, and more about how your interests align with the firm (if it’s about...
I wouldn't withdraw from a reserved place - I would just decline the invite to AC if you were subsequently invited or see if there is anything alternative the firm can offer you.
The chances are really unknown - you don't know where you are on the hold list (are there people ahead of you) and...
I would consider the specifics of a trainee's role particuarly in relation to delivering high standards of work (and going beyond the basic requirements of a trainee's role/responsibilities) and think about how you personally could do this by leveraging your strengths.
If you have been asked to focus on one article and you have free reign to choose it, I would only focus on the article, not multiple articles, even if they are related.
Your answer will need to be focused and structured, and there is a risk that by trying to talk about things more broadly, you...
There have been a lot of posts about practice written exercises of late. Here are a couple of our free written case study exercises you can use:

It depends if they use the same application software or not. If they do, they’ll be able to see the various applications. If they use seperate systems they won’t know at all.
Even if it is the same system, it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Some firms will say you can only proceed with one...
It isn’t explicitly asking about commercial law, it is just asking what you want to be a solicitor in a law firm (private practice) and on an international level. Obviously there will be cross over though as many international law firms do commercial work.
I don’t think referring to other articles in detail is needed because your interviewers don’t have access to them. A brief reference is fine, but I think also the chances of you reading an article directly related to the one you are being asked to review is unlikely at the same time.
You’ll...
It’s not likely to happen - most firms recruit at least a year, sometimes 2-3 in advance and their roles are therefore filled. Sometimes vacancies will start that same year if the firm increases the number of vacancies or if they have enough people defer to a later intake, but usually firms...
I’d avoid anything unrealistic (for most people, 5 years is only about the qualification stage), and anything too defined “I want to be an international arbitration lawyer working in the US” and focus more on how you would measure success beyond titles/salaries etc. for instance, what types of...

I don’t think it is much different in all honesty as the firm is likely to have paid for the course and you have been onboarded on to it.
You need to speak to the firm ASAP though to put yourself in the best possible situation.
