There is nothing stopping firms from doing this - it happens in the general job market a fair amount.
There are no rules or regulations - just a code of “best recruitment practice” that no one sticks to (including the firm who made you an offer in your first year, which also is against the...
You should flag this to the firm. I think it’s unlikely they would pull the offer based on this, but it’s important to disclose that there was a mistake on your application form, and the reasons for why there was the mistake.
It is possible that some firms will not make you repay the amount - it really depends on the individual firm’s policy and also the circumstances behind the decision. I have gone through processes or reclaiming about £350 a month for 7 years (in one example) and for another firm wrote off the...
Yes, you can keep the same themes to why you are applying, but I would always try to update and refine your answers - maybe there is something you have done in the last year that has really focused your motivations for applying? Maybe you realised on reflection you could write your application...
Most people don’t. Plenty of people do though. I typically would wait until you have an offer or only doing so if there is a more substantial reason for adding them apart from them interviewing you.
Unfortunately it isn’t a month’s worth of tuition as such, the firm has to pay for the course in full even if you don’t complete it. Courses aren’t paid on a week by week basis as ultimately the course cannot be back filled with someone else and effectively the university loses money because of...
Forage state these programmes shouldn’t be listed as work experience (although some people actually do list them as so), but there is no problem completing the programme even if it is for the Australian office.
If they have said they will contact you in a couple of weeks, I would not chase again until a couple of weeks are up. You are only seeing the interview slots - you are not seeing the full process. The recruitment team are likely to be able to add you to a date at an appropriate time.
Can be 3-4 people . It’s less likely with law firms, because they don’t hire huge numbers compared to other sectors but have seen assessment centres of over 25 people.
Really doesn't matter what the topic is - focus on why it excites/inspires you and although you don't have to be explicit in explaining why that correlates with what you might experience in a law firm, you may want to think about subtle references/language to insinuate motivations you will need...
This post gives my opinion of when/when not to chase up: https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/threads/tcla-vacation-scheme-applications-discussion-thread-2022-23.5995/post-136126
They just apply like everyone else and go through the same recruitment process as a final year student/graduate. There is no alternative route for them (apart from a couple of career changer programmes, and even then they aren’t always FO Investment Analyst roles). I suspect they apply knowing...
Only if you do it persistently or if you are rude about it.
In these situations, the first question I get people to ask themselves is do you need to find out (eg so you can plan other things) or do you want to find out (for peace of mind). If the latter, I’d generally avoid asking if you can...
