You might want to send a private message to @Mahesh for his views on this.
My view is that either way you would be fine. Even if a department is deemed more technical, they won't expect the vacation scheme students to have that technical knowledge. I have seen non-law students with little...
Definitely don't chase until at least 72 working hours (By this I mean three working days!) after they have said they will come back to you, unless finding out impacts another offer decision you need to make. And even then, I would only chase the next working day.
Do not chase on the day that...
Further to @Jaysen 's post, I wanted to share my thoughts on last night. It's a long post, but something very important to me, hence the detail.
It took me a while to consider whether to even post this and then also what I wanted to say. But after last night's debate on diversity, racism...
As I posted earlier, people are welcome to take the discussions around diversity and discrimination to the general discussion thread (as long as they can keep the conversation civilised) and start a new thread/conversation in there.
All other posts and any responses to them on this subject in...
Its hard to know whether they would count the Wednesday as a day or not. I suspect it actually means through to 23.59 on Saturday (test systems aren't sophisticated enough to know the hour you received the email and usually just turn off when a day turns into the next at midnight). YOu might...
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
Discussions around matters like the topics of diversity in the legal profession are important ones to have. However, in this instance, it has overtaken a thread and derailed it.
Therefore, I would recommend that if anyone wants to continue this discussion, they start...
Thank you for the reports on several posts in this thread. I am currently looking into this matter and will come back to individual reports and the thread more generally in due course once I have managed to read everything.
Please can everyone remain civil during such conversations.
I would list down your key areas of interest in commercials law.
I would cross reference this with the firm’s strengths, whether that be practice areas or sectors
I’d then try to find a story in this pool that links to these two criteria.
In terms of structuring your answer, explain in...
Any firm whose TC numbers are similar or higher than the number of VS spaces will recruit a decent number of direct trainees. Not all VS applicants are offered, and of those who are offered, not all of them will accept, and so if a firm recruits 20 vac schemers and 20 trainees, there is a good...
No - the interview is about you not them. I would look them up on LinkedIn or the firm's website to understand their role, but I wouldn't do any further digging than that unless there was something that stood out as being interesting to you.
I wouldn't really go out of my way to connect with people before the scheme - it would be better to do this during the scheme (it will come across as more genuine).
There is some great advice here:

This is going to come across as slightly contradictory (unfortunately).
Your reports will be different if you are trying to change your approach to questions based on what you think the firm wants you to say/answer, rather than how you would naturally respond.
However, trying to think about...
My advice is to outline any of the assumptions/variables you would need to consider in the sceanrio. For instance with the following sceanerio:
A senior partner at your law firm comes into your office to give you some work. You are trying to keep up, but he leaves before you get a chance to...
