There is a difference between the period of time and the volume of time though. Testing can be automated and therefore takes seconds. Other processes, such as reviewing applications takes minutes - typically 3-8 depending on the length.
If you had 1,000 applicants and it takes 10 seconds to...
Some firms use the current applicant pool to benchmark, while other use existing norm groups to assess psychometric. Something as simple as this could create a difference in one firm getting back to you fairly immediately while another could take months.
Some also use “hold” pools of talent to...
Could be a spot check rather than anything to prompts them to check. I don’t know the specifics of whether they contact everyone, or a ratio.
I suspect you will still need to do a check upon qualification, even if you have gone through the process before.
The first step would be to ask the university whether this is on your record with them. If you did not receive a formal warning in writing, then it is unlikely you will have anything on record, but it’s probably still worthwhile checking.
But yes, the SRA can check with universities for cases...
I don’t know the specifics unfortunately - but I would just check the tone and language they use on their website when describing what they look for in candidates
You could even if it is a non-CV blind process - it is just more that you’ll probably need a bit more detail/thoroughness to your in person answers compared to your application.
I understand the impact it had, but I would encourage you to leave your feelings in regards to it with the people who asked your age (I wasn't sure if this was graduate recruitment, lawyers or fellow vacation scheme students) rather than feeling it's going to be like that across the whole...
This is not as straightforward, not because of any discrimination but because of the work visa processes that used to exist.
The UK government made it really difficult to recruit people from outside of the UK/EU (e.g. if you were not transferring from a student visa) for quite a while, I think...
On the age point, I have lost count how many trainees I have recruited in their 30s - many I didn't even clock were in their 30s.
Also had a few trainees in their 40s and at least one in their 50s.
Age really won't be a barrier to get into the profession.
There are some practice questions here

I don’t want to come across as if I am dismissing your experience - you clearly haven’t had a good experience with this firm.
However, on both the age piece and the diversity programme piece, I have only experienced the complete opposite. I really do think you have just had a bad experience and...
I don't think this will be an issue to apply to most of the firms in the categories you have mentioned. A few that really emphasise exceptional academics might be out of the question, but even then I think it could still be a possibility.
Questions like this are often asked as they are 1) challenging and 2) asking you to be self-aware or reflective
They would have just been wanting you to provide some kind of thoughts as to why the one grade stood out very differently from the rest of your results.
Yes, I would be honest and say you are will hear back from the vacation scheme process for the US firm you did your winter scheme with in March.
I'd be prepared to also answer what are the key differences between what the US firm can offer you and what they can offer you too - this is often a...
