I assume you mean Weil/Kirkland's commercial awareness question? If so, you can treat it like any other commercial question: no need to write about PE unless you want to.
Some of the shorter apps:
Bird & Bird
HSF
Hogan Lovells
Jones Day
Shearman
Weil
That doesn't take into account the difficulty of the questions though e.g. quite a few people struggle with HSF's topic and Shearman's competitive advantage question.
First Round:
The drafting exercise was about investing in [redacted] (was it a good investment, what was its position in relation to competitors and how it could improve/work on its competitive advantages?). It was definitely time pressured (1 hr and around 8 pages), but was really doable and...

First round interview
Fairly relaxed, lots of opportunities to break some jokes. About half of the questions were CV-based, so make sure to review your application before the interview. Most of the questions were very specific to what I wrote, e.g. I put in my application that I was training...
If you guys need any pointers on the commercial stuff, I'm quite happy to join the group. Equally, feel free to keep it between yourselves if preferred!
It’s a good question. I’d say the second question is more about identifying what differentiates Ashurst, whereas in your cover letter, you’ll be drilling down on why you are personally applying to the firm.
You’re right though, there is likely to be some overlap, so you may want to answer the...

You can also do interesting things though. If you’re at university, I’d encourage you to sign up to...
Thanks to @Lumree for flagging this up.
Legal 500 recently released their UK 2020 rankings: http://www.legal500.com/assets/pages/united-kingdom/uk.html. Many of you will be familiar with the site, but if you aren't already, they're quite a useful way of researching a firm's practice area...
Thanks for sharing Sharaf. I think the ability to self-reflect is a huge skill in this process and that's clearly something you have. Looking forward to seeing how your journey progresses!
Hi All,
You may have just seen this new section of the forum pop up. It's an opportunity for you to introduce yourself and let us follow along your training contract journey. You might also find this a good way to motivate yourself to work on specific things in the application process.
Anyone...

Hi Abhaya, I'm afraid I can't help here as I don't know much about this.
I can't access the article, but note - if this is for apps/interviews, you don't necessarily need to find the 'right' answer. You can use what you know about the story and law firms, to speculate on how you think they...
