In this interactive session, Maya Shah, Senior Early Careers Specialist at Ropes & Gray, will walk you through every stage of the firm's application process.
Willkie’s new graduate recruiter and two trainees will break down what the firm looks for at the interview stage, common pitfalls to avoid,
and how you can demonstrate confidence, clarity, and genuine motivation throughout an assessment centre.
Depends on the firm, but for many you don’t apply to a specific scheme, you just apply and will then be allocated at the point of being offered or accepting the offer.
If you were asked to select scheme dates, then you’ll need to check your application for those details.
I would only recommend...
Many in there are looking for 2023 intakes (from the pages I looked at anyway), it’s probably worthwhile spending sometime skimming through each firms profile to find out what they are recruiting for.
Highly unlikely to have an impact, especially if you have mitigating circumstances (although there would be no need to claim the mitigating circumstances if you have 2.1s in other modules.)
872 results apparently when you search 2023 TCs on LCN ….. 🤯

The issue here is that there is no longer a standard time or order.
Course lengths vary (where the course is not compulsory to qualification), meaning lead in timescales also vary.
To complicate matters, although many firms are asking their trainee to complete SQE 1 and 2 before they start...
I personally wouldn’t recommend doing any thorough preparation just before. Instead I would suggest trying to relax so your mind is sharper during the assessments.
However, it really depends on how you like to work. Some people will benefit from last minute preparations where they make the...
It will be difficult to get answers as the firm and test provider are likely to use a question bank that provides randomised questions.

A post-graduate course is rarely valued over an undergraduate course in all honesty. The exception would be if you are doing a niche subject that aligns with a niche firm.
A merit in a postgraduate course is perfectly acceptable and if with other excellent academics is most likely not going to...
The SRA are not going to ask your local force. They don't even know who your local force was.
Also, you could be stopped and searched anywhere in the UK, not just your local area. And so if the SRA were to do a full search, they would need to search every police force in the UK. And even then...
No worries - think of it this way, lots of people are stopped and search who are innocent. It is only if you accept a caution (which admits guilt) or receive some form of charge that you are then found guilty of, that it would be a problem.
I have known several people get approval from the SRA...
You could be asked about turn over/profits. They are unlikely to ask about what you are paying employees but might be interested to know how many employees you have.
If anything, your previous career is likely to help you - and from multiple angles. 1) transferable skills; 2) knowledge; 3) motivation and interest in a key commercial topic.
The challenge you might have here is that you are looking at a small niche in law, albeit a growing area. Many firms...
I'd always go with whatever you think is your best example. I wouldn't necessarily go as broad as life in general, but you can use personal experiences to highlight specific times things haven't gone to plan, rather than just work examples. Sometimes work examples are not always the most...
