This is a very broad question! Does the application have other questions that focus on commercial awareness or lend itself to such answers?'tell us a bit about yourself' 250 words. I'm unsure how to approach this, does the firm want me adopt a competency-style answer and be like 'I am commercially aware because xyz' or do they want me to talk about my personal interests?
yeah they ask about a time you've successfully demonstrated commercial awareness and why I want to be a solicitorThis is a very broad question! Does the application have other questions that focus on commercial awareness or lend itself to such answers?
I had an interview earlier last year for a paralegal position at Ashfords. From my experience, I would say they are more getting to know you. They are a smaller firm and so the type of person is important to them and how they might fit in their team. Especially, if they already ask commercial questions you won’t need to talk too much in that regard.yeah they ask about a time you've successfully demonstrated commercial awareness and why I want to be a solicitor
In that case I would answer the tell me about yourself question in a more personal manner - something that’s particular about you whether that be a unique journey or a personal interest. They’ve already given an opportunity to say why law and to prove your commercial awareness so you don’t need to reiterate that point.yeah they ask about a time you've successfully demonstrated commercial awareness and why I want to be a solicitor
Hi @NikkiT,Does anyone have any general AC advice? Or is there a previous thread on this?
If anyone can help please send me a message 😅☺️
It will depend on a number of factors. For instance, are the practice areas/sector focus different across the offices. The more different these are, the more difficult it could be. The firm is also likely to prioritise trainees who trained in that office for NQ roles, so you might find more flexibility if/when those trainees are not retained or leave of their own accord.Let's say, for example, that after finishing your training contract in Exeter, you want to be transferred to the firm's office in Bristol. How likely is this to happen?
The trial of our Starred Thread Awards was a huge success and we received some excellent responses to the Texas Two-Step thread and the thread on the Bruce Springsteen Music Catalogue from @IRO and @gilo amongst others!Congratulations to @IRO and @gilo for becoming the first two Starred Thread Award winners!! Please reach out to @Jaysen to claim your free month of TCLA Premium
I have now removed the stars from these two threads but look out for our next Starred Threads!
Hi all, looking for some advice please… 🙌🏼
I applied for the Samsung Graduate Paralegal role and did the tests and VI. I’ve just heard I’ve just been offered an AC for the Graduate Data Privacy Advisor role instead. I am interested in potentially specialising in data protection/privacy law when becoming a solicitor (despite my username on here lol) so looks like it would give me relevant experience. But as it is not strictly within the legal team (it’s in the Business Services team), would this come across as a good experience with future TC apps? It’s also a two year programme so I’m unsure.
Please let me know your thoughts! TIA x
Not a competency-style question. They're asking this to get to know who you are, not why you're suitable candidate for a graduate opportunity at the firm.'tell us a bit about yourself' 250 words. Sorry to put a downer on it but I waited over 3 weeks until I got my offer so it’ll probably be a while yet until you get a response- good luck though and fingers crossed it’ll be quicker for youbeen a week since my FF AC still no response yet 🤕
I've been waiting on Dentons too! Did the TI on 27 Jan and no updates yet. They told me then that they'll get back to me within 2 weeks but it's almost 3 now. Sent them a follow-up email on Mon and am waiting for a replyAnyone heard from Dentons post-TI or Bakers post-VI? Saw someone on my LinkedIn get a Dentons summer vac scheme offer already and it’s been 13 days/15 days respectively for me so 😐
