After a call with a firm, how important is it to send an email thanking them for their time? @axelbeugre @Jessica Booker

Depends what the call is about but for most calls wouldn’t expect the need to follow up with a thank you.

Would recommend doing neutrals. I think blue should be okay though.

M&S is my favourite for this especially because they have different lengths for tailored trousers

Colour is fine - it would only be if it is exceptionally bright or highly patterned that I would avoid it, but even then this can work if it is a small amount.

freshfields pfo post-app. i feel like they’re either not transparent enough in the type of candidates they prefer or smth is seriously wrong with my apps because i’ve applied so many times and still have never received the WG from them.

but at the same time i have had interviews with top US firms so i don’t really understand how i am not eligible even for a WG. have competed in disputes competitions too and was quite tailored in my cover letter

I think do whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident! Someone mentioned going to the AC with a green blazer and getting the TC, so I think it really doesn’t matter if you feel confident

I generally stick to black & grey because I wouldn’t feel very comfortable standing out
But it’s definitely not something that would hinder your chances of getting a VS/TC

i used to stick to neutral colours but i got a blush pink/camel colour blazer for my birthday and i love it! it's silly but sometimes i hope it makes me a little more memorable like 'oh yeah i remember her the one in the camel blazer!' haha def a bit silly but whatever you feel best in!

I know what the firm can look for can be quite different to what the US firms look for. If your application suggests a lot of interest in US firms, they may just think you are better suited to one of them rather than their firm.

yeah lots of people seem to have applied, so i completely get it. i just mean it’s very confusing for me because i could spend ages on a particular application and not pass initial stage but make it to final round for apps i rush and have typos in etc.
