If you’ve done the Linklaters test before then it’s the same as those ones. But otherwise there’s a WG at the end that you can practice and the situational questions are just common sense. There’s also some personality type questions so you can’t really prepare for those.
Elite US firms often take all their trainees from the vac schemes despite advertising direct Tc. Direct apps often aren’t even read. If you have the time spend on the app that’s fine but if you have other pressing priorities I’d focus on those. You could try and email Akin grad rec and ask them...
Spending hours reading and writing an app that probably won’t be read is fine if you have spare time. But if the posted has got exams, work or other responsibilities it may not be worth the effort.
I think there would be an ‘us and them’ divide. The fee earners probably wont really want to get involved in the business services side of the firm unless they really have to.
I’d picked the US firm if I were you. It will be better experience and I suspect you’ll be doing largely the same job as an actual trainee. Assuming the extra travel time is by train would you be able to spend that time researching / writing apps instead? Also would the US firm consider the SQE...
I’m doing the LPC part time spread across 2 academic years. The workload will be an issue, there’s a lot of content to get through. If you work full time you’ll struggle to attend all the lectures/tutorials, complete all the work and prep for exams. I personally find it difficult getting...
In one of the tests they show you a bunch of pictures of different people and you have to match their expression to statements. The other is a maths puzzle type game. You can’t really prepare for it. I think it’s called Revalin or something like that.
Just email the firms that you are interested in and they’ll tell you. There’s not really a definitive list anywhere.
I would also add that some firms won’t want to see resits on the LPC or GDL.
I also work full time. I don’t work in a regulated industry as such but I would need to get permission from my manager and HR in order to undertake vac schemes as they count as employment. The other thing you have to consider is that realistically you won’t be able to do very many vac schemes...
Yep mines been like that for a couple of days now. I’m sure they review apps blind hence the anonymity status. I can only assume that change means that someone has now read it and they’ve made a decision and we’ve just not received an email with the outcome.
