They do prioritise Vac Scheme attendees. They give them c85% of TCs? So we’re dealing with small numbers. Maybe 5-10 direct Training Contracts left. Some DTC only firms still open. Fried Frank along with Paul Hastings. There’s also some other firms open.
There’s plenty more firms out there. Easy to get set on firms. But they’re more similar than different. You could always reapply to them. I felt this way for W&C.
It has been a rough cycle. Only one telephone interview for me. All that after 30+ TC/VS apps. Still, open days can be helpful. Maybe try that if applying again. Then you’ve shown commitment to firms.

80-85% of TCs go to VSers. Worth managing expectations with HL, honestly. So probably small numbers of ACs. Not one posted on here yet. No news is no news, however.
Nothing from Ashurst as of yet. Not feeling too hopeful about Cappfinity. Not a test I've passed yet.
Trying to focus on summer TCs. Paul Hastings feels more likely now. No VS to speak of, obviously. Plus, attended their selective open day. Did you also apply to PH?
CS seems more consistent than ROF. Legal Cheek is also great too. Their ‘grading’ system can be helpful.
I agree with your last point. Hence, open days can be crucial. That and talking to the trainees.
For that, Chambers & Partners helps. Helpfully, it’s integrated with Chambers Student. Still, only gets you so far. Good to combine with other resources.
The Legal 500 is generally excellent. The Lawyer’s stuff is generally paywalled. But you can Google their headlines. Other outlets cover their content too. Lateral hires are often covered elsewhere.
The Lawyer’s profiles are often outdated. So it’s not often that useful. For headlines though...
Contrast Ashurst's DTC process with Macfarlanes. Ashurst seemingly holds ACs in May/June. Macfarlanes is non-rolling (July 31st deadline). White & Case is the same. How many DTCs do Ashurst offer? Timelines would suggest more than elsewhere. Of course this is just speculation.
