Thanks so much @Salma - this is so useful! Would it be possible to put in bold those firms which do not recruit the majority of their trainees from their vac schemes?

Please don't do this all by yourself! Maybe we can pool our knowledge and edit as we go along - like with the Rolling Basis / Deadlines thread?

E.g. Freshfields + Slaughter and May don't recruit the majority of their trainees via vac schemes / are very open to direct TCs - confirmed by GR!

Just to clarify, Fried Frank and Paul Hastings do not host vacation schemes and therefore recruit primarily directly through TC applications.

@Salma, thanks for the list! Could you please check if Gowling is still accepting direct TC applications? Pretty sure they have changed their recruitment process to recruiting directly from their vac schemes.

They have changed. I don't know if recruiting directly from vac scheme is the reason for not accepting applications at the current time - they still talk about applying for a direct TC on their website as though it's a separate option from vac scheme. But regardless you cannot apply for the 2021 intake any longer.
