SQE 26/27 Discussion Thread

How is everyone preparing?

I've decided to scrap watching lectures and just go straight to notes/recall. My process at the moment is:

1. Skim read notes from a textbook chapter
2. Write my own notes from memory in the most distilled version possible
3. Compare this to the original notes and add what I missed out
4. List my mistakes and turn these into flashcards
5. Test myself with AI questions

I’m retaking the SQE as my first attempt was a fail. I’m using Barbri and I have been preparing for this since last August. I started with a light review of the material and then focused on getting all of my lectures done with MCQ practice as it came up on my PSP. Now I’m wrapping up my readings while doing recall through practice tests. I’m due to finish my readings by end of next week which gives me 2 solid months of just practice.

I should preface that I work full time and commute into the City each day which takes up a lot of my time.

Nice! I don't think it's easy to work full time alongside the SQE. What times do you tend to do SQE work? Before or after work?

I try to get to work early and get some work done, during my lunch hour and using annual leave to give myself study days.

Also making use of the journey times to read helps sometimes. Then I dedicate at least one full day of the weekend to solely studying.

If you don't mind me asking: why do you think you failed the first time? And are you doing anything differently this time?

In all honesty I had a lot going on in my personal life and I didn’t study properly. I rushed through the material and barely had any time to do any practice.

So this time I’ve given myself plenty of time to study the material and really stuck with the schedule I’ve made.
