Cambridge University Chinese Society, commonly referred to as CUCS or ChiSoc, was founded by a group of enthusiastic and visionary students from Hong Kong in the late 1950s. Although the member base was relatively small and diverse in the beginning, Currently with over 1000 lifetime members, CUCS is faced with the task of uniting such a diverse community, whilst promoting Hong Kong’s unique heritage that we are extremely proud of, bringing students of all races and ethnicities closer to our fascinating Chinese culture.

CUCS, as the main student body responsible for student welfare and career advancement for Cambridge students from Hong Kong, strives to enrich and enhance the Cambridge experiences of our members through organising various freshers reception events to strengthen bonds and forge lifelong friendships between our members, as well as cooperating with companies looking to expand their recruitment to one of the top universities in the UK.

We currently boast over 1000 lifetime members, including many distinguished Alumni, such as the Mrs. Carrie Lam, our current Chief Executive of the HKSAR, Honorary Dr. Li Kwok Po GBS JP, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bank of East Asia, and Wong Yan Lung, the former Secretary of Justice of Hong Kong. CUCS aims to build on this strong foundation and maintain this close Alumni network, collaborating with The Friends of Cambridge University in Hong Kong and The Oxford and Cambridge Society of Hong Kong to organise alumni networking events and career related events.

Strengthened with our past and equipped with a clear vision, each year’s Committee looks forward to continuing with this grand and meaningful tradition that is ChiSoc.
