Durham Commercial Affairs Society (DCAS) is a student-led society that aims to enhance our members’ understanding and awareness of current affairs and their wider impact on businesses in both a legal and commercial context.

We believe that being commercially aware is important because employers value and look for the ability of candidates to understand external factors and how they impact their business in every career path. It is for this reason why we regard commercial awareness as a vital skill and dedicate our time to helping our members to understand what it means to be commercially aware.

We do this by hosting debates and discussions on recent commercial news stories and regularly inviting professionals from various sectors to be guest speakers in interactive talks to our members. In addition to this, we host workshops on tackling commercial awareness questions in job applications and interviews, and focus on developing the ability of our members to critically analyse commercial affairs and consider their impact on the wider economy.
