Reminder: Securing a training contract in your first go is a bit like getting rich quick.

It rarely happens.

If you secure a training contract, you’re going to be practising law for at least 2 years, probably a lot longer. Maybe even most of your life.

That’s why it’s okay if you don’t secure a training contract in your first cycle, or your fifth.

Our next podcast guest secured his first interview after 20 straight rejections, then a training contract after 20 more. We’ve met others who secured training contracts after six or seven years of applying.

So you’ve got time – the average age of a qualified solicitor is 29.

If people around you are securing training contracts, that doesn’t matter. They’re not running your race.

Just focus on being better than you were the week before.
