Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here has applied for a London TC at RPC this cycle and if you've heard anything since submitting your application. Granted its quite soon after the deadline but would be good to know if anyone's heard back/when people typically do. :)
hey i think theyre non-rolling so they are only gonna start reviewing the apps after the deadline. the past two weeks theyve been conducting their virtual vacation schemes so i reckon theyll make some TC decisions for the VS first and then get to the direct TC

Thanks! Yeah that’s what I was thinking - I figured they’d offer their VS candidates TCs then start to look at direct TC apps, so useful to know their VS was this week! Thanks :)

Hey has anyone done the Eversheds VS? I applied for direct TC so just wondering when the VS is so I can gauge some idea of when we might hear back for direct TC!

Hi I also applied for TC at Eversheds. They said on their Twitter account that their Manchester/London VS finished today.

They also said that they’ll try to get back to TC applicants within two weeks of the deadline so we’ll hopefully hear soon!

Hi guys! Just wondering has anyone ever had to do a markup and timeline exercise for a vac scheme? If so, please could I have some advice as I have never come across these and I am required to do them next week!

Thank you in advance :)

A mark-up exercise will literally be you needing to scrutinise every little detail of a document. You'll need to look out for anything out of the following:
  • Typos
  • Mispelling
  • Inconsistencies in spelling (e.g. names like Thompson/Thomson)
  • Grammatical errors
  • Transposed numbers
  • Incorrect dates
  • Incorrect headings/titles/subject lines
  • Incorrect identification of parties/people (e.g. referencing the client as the other party in a deal or vice versa)
  • Language - where sentences or bullet points are ambiguous, unclear, or over-written
  • Structure - where things could be reordered to make a more logical/clearer layout (might be particularly relevant in this instance if there is a timeline aspect)
I haven't seen a "timeline" exercise before, but I would expect this to be based on what needs to happen first and then deciding the order of actions to ensure success. This will just need some common sense to work out what will have to happen before a particular outcome, or where matters/parts of the puzzle are dependent on others.

Can anyone direct me to a good guide on finance (and restructuring but this is less important)? have an interview with a finance partner and want to be ready for any question he might throw my way.

Many thanks in advance =)

Unless the firm specialises in Finance (e.g. you would definitely do multiple seats in Finance), I wouldn't over prepare for Finance questions. Your interviewer isn't recruiting for their practice area, they are recruiting for the firm.

Really confusing. If you take a look at the attached pic, it seems to only be open to penultimate and not graduates/final year law.

Also, why would they ask you to confirm that you’re a penultimate student if it’s open for graduates as well?

Very confusing...

It is very much open for graduates. I am a graduate and sent my application on 30th June for the penultimate year TC 2022 . I got an invite for the Watson Glaser, so they must be open for graduates as well! :)

Oh how strange. I emailed them and was told it was only open to penultimate years. Are you a non-law grad?
