Founded in 2020, the Oxford Society for Commercial Law (OSCOLA) is Oxford’s premier student-run society dedicated to the promotion of commercial law and the development of students to thrive as lawyers of the future. OSCOLA’s mission is to address the growing demand amongst Oxford students who wish to better prepare themselves for the rigours of a career in commercial law.

OSCOLA runs an extensive range of events. These include networking events with top law firms in the City, skills training sessions, masterclasses, application workshops, and practice area deep-dives. In addition, OSCOLA organises competitions such as moots to allow members to develop key skills which will aid them in their future careers. To date, OSCOLA has partnered with over 18 firms, as well as a large mix of student societies and organisations.

OSCOLA has also kickstarted several exciting new initiatives – all of which are a first of their kind at Oxford – such as an interview buddy scheme, an application buddy scheme, and most recently its very own Commercial Law Handbook. The society also publishes a blog showcasing members’ research into the latest legal and commercial developments, underpinned by the highest standards of academic rigour expected of all Oxford students.

OSCOLA is grateful for this opportunity to partner with TCLA, and to increase support for all its members.
